from the wealth of knowledge that is the gilmore family, here’s a little tidbit for yall. when congratulating a newly engaged couple, you should say congrats to the man and best wishes to the lady. congrats for the dude because, hey, she said yes. and best wishes for the lady bec you hope it goes well… congrats is sort of like saying congrats on landing a husband. bit of a faux pas.
apparently, brian’s grandmother gilmore used to have something to do with those dear abby or miss manners columns, whatever they’re called. all three of the gilmore elder sibs (brian’s dad, uncle, and aunt) did not make the mistake of telling me congrats.
